Mamba Mentality

Since the very sudden and tragic death of the legend NBA Basketball star Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and 7 other passengers this past week, there has been much talk about the Mamba Mentality.  Kobe coined this phrase and as a lifestyle for many years. He hoped that even after he retired from playing, the legacy of the Mamba Mentality would live on, and it did.

He went on to build a training facility called the Mamba Academy.  This facility housed basketball courts, volleyball courts, a turf field, a sports medicine practice, batting cages, and pitching mounds, a sprint track, a yoga/cycling studio, and much more.  Now that is Mamba Mentality.

So, what exactly does it mean to have a Mamba Mentality?  In Kobe's words, he says, "to sum up what Mamba Mentality is, it means to be able to try to be the best version of yourself constantly."  "It's a quest to try to be better today than you were yesterday."

Kobe's Mamba Mentality is something we should all strive for every day.  Working to be the best person you can be and making each and every day a chance to be better than yesterday.

Sometimes it takes a tragedy to step back into the reality of what is true, lasting, and essential in life.  It seems that Kobe realized how important family and loved ones are, and cherished his time with his lovely wife and four daughters to whom he loved being a "girl dad."  Which is also now a hashtag on Instagram with over 349,000 posts on it.

I guess in a way we can all relate to Kobe.  I know I can, as someone who strives to be better every day and cherishes family.  I can also relate as I am married to a "girl dad" who is extremely committed to being the best version of himself.

As we continue into this brand New Year of opportunities to live our best lives, I hope you will keep your priorities focused on what is essential.  Keep moving towards being better, cherish your family and loved ones, and keep your Mamba Mentality alive and well.

My affirmation for you this week is;

"I will focus on being the best version of myself and will keep my Mamba Mentality thriving to live my most beautifuLIFE"
