As Father's Day approaches, I find myself reflecting on all the things I would like to say to my Dad.
This Father's Day is especially meaningful because it is my first Father's Day without him. While I miss him every day, I am grateful for the countless gifts he left behind.
As I reflect on his life, I realize that the greatest gifts my father left behind were not things that could be held in our hands, but values that continue to live in our hearts.
My Dad taught me to treat people with respect, lead with kindness, work hard, honor my commitments, and always make family a priority. Whether he was speaking with a lifelong friend, a client, a neighbor, or someone he had just met, he made people feel valued and appreciated.
He loved my Mom deeply, and together they built a home filled with love, faith, laughter, and family. As many of you know, my parents adopted five children, each as babies. Their hearts were always open, and their love was unconditional. They taught us that family is one of life's greatest blessings.
My Dad was dedicated to his family, his business, his community, and the people he served. Yet through it all, he never lost sight of what mattered most. He understood the importance of balancing work, relationships, and the simple joys of life.
The older I get, the more I appreciate those lessons. They continue to guide me every day.
Perhaps that is the true legacy of a father.
Not what he leaves to us.
But what he leaves within us.
This Father's Day, I encourage you to take a moment to thank the fathers and father figures who have helped shape your life. Tell them what they mean to you while you still can.
Thank you, Dad.
I miss you every day and will carry your love and lessons in my heart forever.
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, husbands, sons, mentors, and father figures who make a difference in the lives of others every day.
My affirmation for you this week is:
"I am grateful for the love, wisdom, and values that have helped shape my life."
A question to reflect upon:
What is one lesson or value that someone you admire has passed on to you that you hope to carry forward and share with others?
