As we end this year and enter into a new one, I thought it would be a good time to talk about some of the things that you may just want to leave behind. I like to suggest that you take a walk on the beach, find a quiet spot and dig a hole in the sand where you can bury little thoughts of things that you want to leave behind before the New Year begins. This could be done with a shell or a rock or any item as a symbol of the thought. I am a big believer that if you speak out your thought and then put it in the hole to be buried it brings more of a lasting impact and significance.
You don’t need to live near the beach to do this exercise. Thoughts can be buried in the snow, in a pile of rocks, in a lake, in the dirt or even by throwing them into a bonfire. The point is that you are taking the time to come up with things that might have affected your life this year in terms of pain, suffering, heartache, setbacks, worry, fear or anything that might hold you back from having the best year ahead.
- If there were people in your life that disappointed you - let it go.
- If you were unsuccessful in reaching a goal - let it go
- If you had a health setback that put you behind - let it go
- If you didn’t find your true love this year - let it go
- If you were not able to accomplish a certain task - let it go
The best way to move on and continue growing in the right direction is to let things go that might be a burden in order to focus on all the beautiful new things to come. The hardest part of this whole letting go thing is to learn how to really do it and to not just say “I’m letting go” but to truly let it go for good and move on without another thought about it. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but the examples I gave above might help you to come up with some of your own ideas as to how to make that happen.
My hope is that you find your own way to make sure that you are ending this year in a very productive way by only taking with you the good things that came into your life. Leave behind the things that will slow you down from stepping into a brand New Year of living your most balanced and beautifulife ever!
My affirmation for you this week is;
“I will take the time to confront the circumstances in my life that do not serve me in a positive way for my future and will let them all go in order to freely move on.”
Happy New Year,
